AMERICAN IDOL Overall
Apr 15 2010, 10:29 AM EDT
This might be a bit out in Left Field, but wasn't the premise of this show to find the next "Pop Star" from the average american youth? If you look back over the past years, there are more "Pop Stars" from those who were either eliminated or didn't win then winners. Of the last 8 winners, only two really come to the front as actual Singing Stars and they are Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. David Cook is starting to get to that level but he has a long way to go, otherwise what this show has spawned is a great bunch of "Broadway Musical Actors". Look at all the "Winners" who have gone on to Broadway, Fantasia, Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks. I have no idea what Jordan Sparks is doing other than a couple of shows on the Disney Channel and Kris Allen does great Ford Commercials. Also, many of the "Eliminated" have had broadway careers as well Clay Akins, Constantine Maroulis, and Ace Young just to name a few. Personally with the crop on stage this year, I don't see any of them becoming anywhere near a great as Kelley or Carrie or Chris Daughtry. It is going to be another year of hopefully falling into oblivion. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Kris Allen is just starting off so can't expect much from him quite yet. Anyways this show can't really find the next "Pop Star" because of a voting system that allows the same person to vote as much as they want for two hours. Take in account a number of teenage "boy crazy" girls watch this show recently and the results will change. Fantasia and Hicks completely went off of my radar ever since they won, of course season 3 has always had my vote for the worst season, but still. It's harder for these winners to get started with their careers because they basically become slaves to American Idol. Which is why I actually hope my favorites lose each year because those are the ones making successful albums, I could care less about the principle of winning.

Yes, Kris is new to the biz, so what do you expect? On the other hand, the one who comes in second is usually the most successful. Take Adam for example, he is AWESOME! And he has already been really successful. And yes, season 3 was the worst one. I think season 8 was and always will be, the best season on American Idol. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Kris Allen is new to the Music World, so he's just getting started. I still stand firm with my position that Adam Lambert is a better singer than Kris, but that's another debate. However, Adam Lambert has become HUGE in the music industry, and he didn't even win. Chris Daughtry didn't even make it to the Top 3, and his band sold millions of albums. None of the current contestants will become as huge as Kelley, Chris, and Cariee, but some of them have the potiental to become BIG in the music world. Aaron, Lee, and Crystal...I can imagine hearing them on the radio in a few years. They won't be major recording artists, but they will go somewhere in the music world. Season 3, to date, is the WORST season of American Idol. Season 8 was indeed the BEST season of American Idol and will never be forgotten. Can a future season possibly top Season 8? Probably not, but anything is possible. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I've watched all 9 seasons and have been disappointed in all the performers "stage presence" they seem rather FLAT. If one were to listen to the singers voices in another room, they all sound pleasant, but I can only say the 3 that stand-out as my favored contestants are: Moma Sox, Casey James and Lee. I wish Crystal would find the needed energy to express her blues tunes that would most certainly compliment her singing talent. But over-all I've not been blown away by this years selections. KARA needs to SHUT-UP or just use one of these word/ phrases when criticing the contestants: A) GREAT! B) GOOD C) FAIR D) NEEDS MORE WORK E) HOPE AMERICA WANTS YOU BACK NEXT WEEK I pause my TV when she speaks, BECAUSE her opinion is the least orginal and redundant. Then I skip past her.... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

How many of you think Simon should be the one asked first for his critic? In years past, they used to mix their order up after each contestant. Now Randy starts with the same" I DON'T KNOW MAN, IT JUST DIDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME" comment....

Hopefully, they corrected that by telling her to keep it short from now on. I don't believe they'll ever change the seating order. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

He is driving me crazy with his constant chatter about nothing. And I really hate for him to ask the judges who they think should go home. It reminds me of gawkers at an accident. Who enjoys seeing the pain and pressure of these young people? 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Personally, I don't like any of the judges besides Randy and Simon. Ellen doesn't know what the heck she is talking about, so I don't ever listen to her comments. Her comments are usually the same as Randy's. Why do I need a review of Randy's comments when I heard them for myself? The only original thoughts flowing through her head during American Idol is jokes. Her judging is terrible!Kara's comments are usually accurate, but she focuses TOO much on the meaning of the song. However, she is usually right with her comments. I have no problems with her being on the show. I wish she wouldn't do that leaning thing with Simon though. The joke got old...really fast..! It really depends on the night for Kara. Sometimes I listen to her, other times I don't. It all depends. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

KARA: "You neeed to come out of your comfort-zone"..... take risks ... be original".They do and she says: "You took a poor risk coming out of your comfort-zone with THAT song. THAT SONG is never changed. You tried to make eit YOURS and you killed the performance. It didn't do it for me. You really disappointed me." She's not the only one that does so; yet, she does it more than the other judges. I want to grab her and shake the wee-wee out of her bladder! She is NOT the top-cop in the music industry! VERY good ... sure she is; but as a judge she sends mixed signals. Randy loves Bro Mile so much he may as well sign him to contract and be done with it...................... Dog you the bomb .... you da'man ........ smokin' ....... killer ........ that was sick ........ on and on and on. Face it Randy --- you like the 'BROTHA'! When SIMON LEAVES the show will have maybe two seasons left. The published POSSIBLE replacements are either old, gay, older, gayer, boring, in tt for the money, trying to re-kindle a dead career as an exec or in Paulas case looking for new meat to attack! Closing with the MENTORS: MILEY CIRUS was the WORST I have ever seen! She's a star because of Put a Banana in Montana --- not her singing. The others ranged from good to superb --- and they need more of the superb. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"KARA: "You neeed to come out of your comfort-zone"..... take risks ... be original".I agree w/you about Kara and Randy, Ellen is a joke, but I strongly disagree w/you on my girl Paula. I really miss her and her contributions. She added class and always found something to give encouragement for. Kara can't be Paula by laying all over Simon or being cutesy w/him. It just doesn't work. Do you find this valuable? |

"yuck.... paula is a gross drug addict.I have to disagree w/you Lost LA. Paula may or may not have a drug problem, but I know she had a bad back injury and has taken pain pills for a long time. I have back problems and there was a time 2 yrs ago that I couldn't even write my name because I was so loaded. It takes a lot of effort to even go to work when you are suffering. I admire her for even trying to maintain. So many famous people are addicts and don't have the excuse of pain for them to be stoned all the time. Do you find this valuable? |

"yuck.... paula is a gross drug addict.Paula - No sorry she is more of a drunk than an addict. She was on the show once drunk. Randy - Its his thing, I tend to ignore him anyways, he never says anything of real value. Ellen - I don't mind a joke and someone who is nice. Still even if someone does bad Ellen will either make a joke or be nice to them. At least Paula sometimes even said it wasn't very good. Ellen needs to be a little more critical at times. Kara - Obviously wants to be the main judge next year. Her advice is questionable at times and I honestly don't like her. She may give advice one week and immediately change her mind and contradict herself after the next performance. Simon - Going to be hard to fill his shoes. Simon usually has a good idea of whats going on and what every contestant is doing wrong. He doesn't always put it in the nicest way, but hey hes Simon. Do you find this valuable? |

Your above mentioned successes are deserving along with a few others lowlighters, Kellie Pickler and Kelly Clarke ( TEXAS ) . This year's talent has so very FLAT as far as stage presence. They have so-lacked stage appeal it gets beyond boring.. But the FINAL 3 are definately in contention with one another ( if you have your eyes closed ) . They let Michael go tonight and he was the last one to PROJECT emotion from a song. Chrystal has a very strong chance of winning it if she could just wiggle a bit and Lee, smile with both dimples... I love Casey' voice but let's face it, he is very stiff. Don't know if it was due to his enjury years ago, but he is definately a STOOL SINGER with strings at hand.. Love him though.
